The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore **Review**

The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore
Series: Lorien Legacies #2
Pages: 384
Publisher: Puffin Books
Release date: 23rd August 2011
Buy: Book Depository | Amazon UK | Amazon US | Waterstones

Goodreads synopsis:
I've seen him on the news. Followed the stories about what happened in Ohio. John Smith, out there, on the run. To the world, he's a mystery. But to me . . . he's one of us.

Nine of us came here, but sometimes I wonder if time has changed us—if we all still believe in our mission. How can I know? There are six of us left. We're hiding, blending in, avoiding contact with one another . . . but our Legacies are developing, and soon we'll be equipped to fight. Is John Number Four, and is his appearance the sign I've been waiting for? And what about Number Five and Six? Could one of them be the raven-haired girl with the stormy eyes from my dreams? The girl with powers that are beyond anything I could ever imagine? The girl who may be strong enough to bring the six of us together?

They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They tried to catch Number Four in Ohio—and failed.

I am Number Seven. One of six still alive.

And I'm ready to fight.

What a fantastic follow-up to 'I am Number Four'! If you thought the first in the series was exciting, this will blow you away.

The novel begins with the introduction to Marina, number seven, whose view point narrates half of the novel. We learn of her first experiences of Earth with her CĂȘpan, Adelina, and how she came to find herself in her current location in a sleepy village in Spain, constantly on the lookout for news of John Smith, who we already know to be number four.
The novel alternates between Marina's voice and John's, before finally beginning to combine towards the end of the novel. There are plenty of shocks and twists in the plot that make this an utterly unputdownable read.
Not only do we meet Marina at the beginning of the novel, but there are plenty more fantastic new characters to meet along the way too - including some more of the Garde!

If you want some light but gripping escapism, then this is definitely for you! I can't wait for the next instalment! Definitely a 5 star rating for me!

Great review Dani. I wish I could write like you. I've still got the first book to read, but after reading your review of this one, well, I shall have to bump it up the pile a bit. Look forward to reading more of your reviews xx Jen xx

Thank you hun! Do you really think that? I worry that my writing can sometimes be a little child-like, especially with my reviews as I'm not at all practised at writing them! Definitely get these read, Jen! They are exactly your kind of thing, and like I said in the review, if you enjoy the first one, this one will blow you away! xxx

Nice review! :) I'm reading this right now, and I definitely agree with you. And I didn't even like the first one too much, so that's saying something!

I'm in the middle of reading this book. And I agree, it's pretty much hard to put down. I'm even reading it during one of my classes. Haha.
I'm excited to read about the twists and the new characters. :)

Thanks for the review, I actually have this book in my trb pile but after i saw some not-so-good-reviews I chickened out from it (and I also had One Grave at a Time to read). I'll definitely move it up in my pile and read it soon.

I love how this thriller takes place all over the world. It's not something you see a lot of.
