Top Ten Tuesday #2

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Broke and Bookish. It was created because of a particular fondness towards lists. Each week, a new top ten question will be posted on the hosting blog for other blogs to join in with on their own blogs. All you need to do to join in is link back to the host somewhere on your post, and add your link to the linky list via the host.

This week's post is:
Books that originally attracted you based on the title or cover art.

1.
This picture of The Earth Hums in B Flat doesn't really do the cover justice - when you see the actual book it's beautiful. I didn't just buy this one because of the cover, but it certainly is beautiful.

2.
I bought this one only a little while ago, but haven't read it yet. Again, I didn't just buy this one for the cover art, but that is the reason I was drawn to it originally - the cover is stunning - and that it features a woman reading a book makes it all the better!

3.
I haven't actually got The Night Circus on my shelves yet, but I'm hoping that a certain someone may have caught the hint!
This is an absolutely stunning cover. Unlike the two above I wasn't originally drawn to the book by the cover because I read about it online, I think before the cover art was even released, but the cover certainly is eye-catching. And the actual hardback copy of the book is amazing - the pages have black edges, so all-in-all it makes a very beautiful book!

4.
Again, you really have to see a copy of the book for this cover to have its full effect. This is the UK hardback edition, and I absolutely love it. The cover is material and although you can't see it here, is done in a paint by numbers format - I had half an urge to take the wax crayons to it! I didn't though - that would be a tragedy!
Not what drew me to the book because I was already a big fan of Mr Fforde before it came out, but definitely a striking design!

5.
This is also the hardback edition of the novel, and the reason I chose the hardback is because not only was this the edition that I read, but the paperback's cover doesn't quite have the same effect. This cover is very atmospheric, even more so when you have the book itself in your hands - and it perfectly reflects the atmosphere of the novel. A really eye-catching book.

6.
I think I love the cover for A Bit of Earth so much because the little boy on the front looks a lot like my little brother did when he was little (from the back obviously, I think it's the hair). But other than that, the cover is really bright and summery - I'd even say it has an almost optimistic air to it. Definitely what drew me to the novel, and then the story kept me there. One I really recommend.

7.
This cover is one of my favourites, I think. I haven't read the book yet, but the art on the cover really drew me to the book. You can't see too well from the picture, but the character has gold tattoos on her back, and on the actual book, those shine. And the way the book cover looks almost like an old Gothic-style book is really effective.

8.
The first time I saw this book, I was at work and I couldn't stop picking it up every couple of minutes and looking at it. It's just fantastically pretty - and the synopsis for the book makes it even more attractive. Should definitely be reading this one soon!

9.
I'm fairly sure I've mentioned the cover for this one before on my blog. The idea for the novel, as it says in the synopsis, came from the music video for Taylor Swift's Love Story, and this really shows in the cover art. A beautiful cover.

10.
The cover for this one just intrigues me. I won a copy from The Secret Writer about a year ago, and when it arrived, I couldn't stop looking at it! Although I've not read it yet, I have a feeling it is very relevant to the story (I know you may say that this is obvious, but if you look at the covers for some of the books you've read, not all of them make complete sense, I guarantee). Another that I'm looking forward to reading!

That's it for this week's Top Ten Tuesday - I apologise for the lateness of the post.
Please let me know what you think in the comments!

I just love the title of the first book (being a musician and all)! I've put that one and The Weird Sisters on my "Later" shelf at the library ... funny thing is, based on their website, the books they have don't have the beautiful covers. :-(

I just got a copy of The Night Circus this evening! I can't wait to read it! It's quite funny, because of the time difference, I've already put up my Wednesday Wishlist this afternoon (I'll add my details to the linky soon as you've got your post up!), and that was what I'd written about. Heehee!

But my goodness, the rest of the books you've featured on your blog look so beautiful! Looks like my to-read list is about to get a bit of an influx!
