Wishlist Wednesday #40

Wishlist Wednesday is a book blog hop where we will post about one book per week that has been on our wishlist for some time, or just added (it's entirely up to you), that we can't wait to get off the wishlist and onto our wonderful shelves.

So what do you need to do to join in?
  • Follow Pen to Paper as host of the meme.
  • Please consider adding the blog hop button to your blog somewhere, so others can find it easily and join in too! Help spread the word! The code will be at the bottom of the post under the linky.
  • Pick a book from your wishlist that you are dying to get to put on your shelves.
  • Do a post telling your readers about the book and why it's on your wishlist.
  • Add your blog to the linky at the bottom of this post.
  • Put a link back to pen to paper (http://vogue-pentopaper.blogspot.com) somewhere in your post.
  • Visit the other blogs and enjoy!

Monument 14
by Emmy Laybourne
Goodreads synopsis:
Your mother hollers that you’re going to miss the bus. She can see it coming down the street. You don’t stop and hug her and tell her you love her. You don’t thank her for being a good, kind, patient mother. Of course not—you launch yourself down the stairs and make a run for the corner.
Only, if it’s the last time you’ll ever see your mother, you sort of start to wish you’d stopped and did those things. Maybe even missed the bus.
But the bus was barreling down our street, so I ran.
Fourteen kids. One superstore. A million things that go wrong.
In Emmy Laybourne’s action-packed debut novel, six high school kids (some popular, some not), two eighth graders (one a tech genius), and six little kids trapped together in a chain superstore build a refuge for themselves inside. While outside, a series of escalating disasters, beginning with a monster hailstorm and ending with a chemical weapons spill, seems to be tearing the world—as they know it—apart.

I heard about this one from a booktuber (if you don't know, this is someone that does video blogs about books on Youtube, which is kind of what I've started doing recently) that I started following really recently. She does really awesome youtube videos, and you should definitely check her channel out - her name is Sue and you can find her on her channel, Suemoro.
Anyway, I was watching her most recent book haul, I think it was, and she had recently purchased this book. I think I'm right in saying that it was the only book in the video that I hadn't previously come across, or didn't already own, so it definitely stood out, and it sounds so good.
You may well have noticed that I do quite like my dystopian and post-apocalyptic fiction, so this one sounds absolutely perfect! I'm definitely going to be looking at adding this to my shelves as soon as possible!

So thank you to Sue for the heads up on this one, and I'll say it again - go check out her channel, it's pretty awesome.

Great choice! Actually, I think M14 was my pick two weeks ago, so I'm diggin' your taste. :) It was pretty good (my review will be up on Sunday), and I can't wait to hear how you like it!

This sounds really cool! I'm also so into Dystopia and post-apocalyptic these days so Monument 14 practically catch my attention too. Gonna add this to my wishlist too. Great pick! =)
